Created by clare 10 years ago
Mum was born in long buckby Daventry in 1946, She moved to london in her childhood years and spent many years working at key markets where she was thought of very highly and had a great deal of responsibility placed on her young shoulder. In 1968 Margaret met Byron Greaves. They played in the darts teams for the local public house and was established players. In 1969 on the 5th of April Margaret married Byron at Ealing Town Hall Registry Office. They started of married life in number 16 north road in southall, A place where Byron ,a builder and decorator had been working on previously. In February 1970 a daughter was welcomed into the family. 6lb 13 oz they named her Dawn after the time of her birth. In 1972 another daughter was born 6lb 12 they named her clare. Life was quite tough with Margaret caring for their daughters and Byron working when health permitted but they provided enough love and care to make up for lack of material possessions. In 2000 They moved to Northamptonshire following after their daughters who had moved previously . Margaret was now a Grandma to two Granddaughters and a Grandson. The family reunited again They moved to Daventry in their first home they owned and didnt rent.Byrons health continued to decline and in June 2011 they were devastated by the diagnosis of vascular dementia but their love was to prove pure once again with Margaret caring for Byron until his placing in a nursing home due to the need of more specialist care yet Margaret visited every day never missing a day until Byron passed away on December 10th 2011 from dementia related pneumonia his family were with him as he took his last breath. Margaret was lost after Byrons passing they had been married 42 years and kept themselves to themselves therefore Margarets world changed dramatically. Supported by her daughters Margaret had started to adjust to life without Byron when she was diagnosed with c.o.p.d a lung disorder and hypertension. In April 2012 Margaret had a stoke which left her with left sided weakness and despite physio she ran out of time to get full use back this is when she went to stay with her eldest daughter.Later in that April mum appeared to get a chest infection this was part of the norm for a c.o.p.d patient but it progressed so much that she was hospitalised on the 20th of May with what was though a c.o.p,d flare up. After not responding to treatment the doctors decided they wanted a CT scan to check nothing was being missed. The 22nd brought news that devastated our family. With her two daughters beside her the doctor proceeded to tell Margaret she had incurable lung cancer which had spread to her liver. Taking the news in she then started planning her own funeral with her daughters. On May 31st she was discharged from hospital and was to undertake palliative chemotherapy. After 2 gruelling sessions Margaret failed to get over the chemo side effects and was left exhausted. Her body couldnt take anymore chemo and it was decided that the chemo would stop as it was doing more harm than good. We were told Margaret has 3 to 4 months of life left. Margarets health declined very rapidly and she spent most of her time in bed asleep.By august Margaret was bed bound and had little appitite. The team of doctors and Nurses and Carers were fantastic but Margaret sadly passed away on the 11th august 2013.She is missed tremendously by those left behind.
